DUTCH JENEVER & GIN

The traditional Dutch drink ‘jenever’ was originally intended as a remedy for stomach problems. During the 80 Years’ War against Spain, English mercenaries fighting for the Dutch armies referred to this drink as ‘Dutch courage’ and began importing jenever to Great Britain, where it became known as ‘ginever’ or simply ‘gin.
